New details have emerged from the investigations into the disappearance of 34-year-old Eglant Koçi, an event that occurred on June 4 in Tirana, where the main suspect, Armand Shakaj, continues to be sought.

During the court session, where he was sentenced to prison, Enea Zyferi, who is accused of supporting the perpetrator of the crime, denied having any knowledge of the fate of Eglant Koçi.

"Armand Shakaj asked me to turn off the lights. He told me he would bring out a refrigerator. I have no knowledge of Eglant Koçi's fate. I know him because I work as a waiter at Armand's bar," he declared before the court.

According to his testimony, Zyferi saw Koçi enter Shakaj's business premises, but claims to know nothing further about what happened.

He also indicated that Shakaj had asked him to take the vehicle to the car wash to clean it.

According to preliminary investigations, Armand Shakaj is suspected of having called Eglant Koçi to his business premises, near the "Ismail Qemali" school, opposite the State Police Directorate. Investigators suspect that the 34-year-old was held hostage there and then killed.

The prosecution suspects that in order to remove the body from the premises, Shakaj asked the waiter to turn off the lights, with the excuse that he was going to transport a refrigerator. However, even though the electricity was cut off, security cameras recorded movements that, according to investigators, show the moment when Koç's body was placed in a vehicle.

It is suspected that the body was then transported and hidden in a deep area of Lundra, while the suspected perpetrator attempted to lose track. According to the police, the victim's motorcycle was taken to the "5 Maji" area, with the aim of diverting the investigation, while the area where the crime is suspected to have occurred was cleaned.

Investigators have found traces of blood both in the environment where Koçi is suspected of being held hostage, as well as in the vehicle used, which has strengthened suspicions that the 34-year-old was murdered.

Armand Shakaj has been declared wanted for the criminal offenses of kidnapping and murder, while the suspected motive for the crime is related to conflicts over cryptocurrency wallets.
