The Criminal Amnesty is expected to be voted on in Parliament on June 18th, and those who benefit from this decision will be released from prison at the end of July.

Details about the government's initiative were provided by Deputy Minister of Justice, Tedi Dobi, in an interview with Klan News.

"On June 18, approval is expected in the Albanian Parliament, followed by the President's publication in the Official Gazette, and, at the end of July, Albanians will be reunited with their families," said Dobi.

The Criminal Amnesty foresees that 380 people will leave their cells, while 900 others will have their sentences reduced.

"380 people will benefit from the Criminal Amnesty and immediate release. 900 people will receive a reduction in their sentence ," he said.

The amnesty provides for the suspension of proceedings for offenses punishable by up to 3 years in prison. Those who are subject to SPAK or have been convicted by a decision issued by the Special Court will not benefit.
