CNN journalist Isa Soares has reacted to the protests taking place in Albania, noting their transformation from an environmental cause into a movement with a broader political dimension.

According to Soares, the civic mobilization that began to protect flamingos and the Albanian coastline has expanded beyond environmental issues, turning into a broader protest against the government.

" What started as a campaign to protect Albania's flamingos and coastline has now turned into a broader anti-government movement," the CNN journalist wrote in her Instagram post.

Her comment comes at a time when protests launched against controversial investment projects in coastal areas are attracting widespread attention at home and abroad.
