Kaja Kallas proposes Portuguese diplomat as EU ambassador to Albania

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, has announced the proposed appointment of 33 new EU ambassadors and 7 deputy heads of delegations around the world.

Among the names proposed is Sofia Moreira de Sousa, who has been selected for the post of European Union Ambassador to Albania. She currently serves as Head of the European Commission Representation in Portugal, and previously served as EU Ambassador to Cape Verde.

According to the announcement, the new appointments will be formalized after obtaining the approval of the respective host countries, where necessary, as well as after completing the administrative procedures foreseen within the framework of the diplomatic rotation process for 2026.
