DP takes the "anti-Rama package" to Parliament, demands the repeal of

The Democratic Party Parliamentary Group has submitted to the Assembly a legal package aimed at repealing several laws approved by the socialist majority, which, according to the opposition, conflict with the public interest and the country's European integration process.

The package includes the repeal of the law on strategic investments, changes to the law on protected areas, the law on the Mountain Package, as well as some provisions of the law on cultural heritage.

According to the Democrats, the initiative represents not only a political stance of the opposition, but also the concerns of various civil society groups that have opposed these laws.

The DP argues that the proposed changes aim to protect the environment, cultural heritage and mountainous areas, avoiding, according to it, favoring private interests to the detriment of the public interest.

STATEMENT BY THE CHAIRMAN OF THE DP PARLIAMENTARY GROUP, GAZMENT BARDHI

The Democratic Party Parliamentary Group has just officially submitted to the Assembly today a legal package that combines the public interest with the interest of Albania's membership in the European Union.

The legal package includes:

1. Repeal of the Law on Strategic Investments.

2. Repeal of the amendments to the Law on Protected Areas.

3. Repeal of the Law on the Mountains Package.

4. Repeal of some provisions in the Law on Cultural Heritage.

The package we submitted to the Assembly is not simply an opposition party initiative. It brings to Parliament the voice of society protesting against the destruction of Albania by a government that has until now treated the country as private property.

This package brings to Parliament the voice of society that demands the protection of nature, the protection of cultural heritage, and the protection of mountainous areas from government greed and the financial interests of Edi Rama and Belinda Balluku's clientele.

We are bringing back to Parliament the voice of society that is against the law on strategic investments, a symbol of Edi Rama's economic model; a model based on favoritism, corruption, and the use of power in the service of private interests.

I strongly believe that Albanian society must enter a new phase. A phase where everyone has equal opportunities. In a phase where society does not agree with the model of the rule of the strongest over the weakest. Where everyone is equal before the law. Where the rule of law and not the law of the jungle reigns.

These four legal initiatives unite the interests of citizens, who this time have different political beliefs, or do not belong to any party. These initiatives are good for Albania.

Without the strategic investment law that distributes pieces of Albania to a handful of oligarchs and clients of Edi Rama, Albania will be better off.

Without laws that give the government the ability to violate protected areas, cultural heritage, and the public interest, Albania will be better off.

But Albania will only be truly better when the person at the head of the government is no longer the cause of today's situation.

Therefore, the time has come for Edi Rama to allow majority MPs to vote on these initiatives.

The time has come to reflect. The time has come for Edi Rama to resign.
