Strong tremors in Athens, two earthquakes one after the other

According to preliminary data, the strongest earthquake reached magnitude 5.3 on the Richter scale, with its epicenter in the Mandoudi area of the island of Evia, near Kalkidhia. Earlier, two other tremors with magnitudes 4.3 and 4.8 were recorded.

Experts from the Athens Geodynamic Institute report that the earthquakes had a shallow depth, about 5 kilometers, which made them felt more strongly on the surface and as far as the Greek capital.

So far, no major material damage or injuries have been reported, while authorities continue to monitor seismic activity in the region.
