Paradox/ QSUT seeks donations for medical equipment, the government financed Kanye West's concert with 4 billion lek

Paradox/ QSUT seeks donations for medical equipment, the government financed

While the QSUT asks citizens to open their wallets for medical equipment, the debate over the 4 billion lek funded by the state for Ye's concert continues to gain momentum.

Journalist Osman Stafa, in a post on social media, reacted by questioning the priorities of public spending. He compared the need for financial support for a public hospital to the government's decision to allocate funds for the artist Ye's concert in Tirana.

"QSUT calls on Albanian citizens to make donations to buy medical equipment. While the Albanian state finances a private concert with 4 billion lek. Is there a greater absurdity?", writes the journalist.

According to him, it is concerning that citizens are asked to contribute to basic needs in a public health institution, while millions of lek from state funds are directed towards other activities.

"The hospital asks citizens for money, the state takes the money to the spectacle. Scary," declared Stafa.

The journalist's reaction comes after the open debate about the public financing of the concert of the artist Kanye West in Tirana. For this activity, the Albanian government announced that it had allocated about 400 million lek (approximately 4 million euros) from the emergency fund, arguing it as an investment for the promotion of Albania and tourism.
