The Albanian government's decision to finance the organization of the American rapper Kanye West's concert with around 4 million euros has caused reactions even at the European level.

The European Democratic Party (EDP) has criticized the use of public funds for this activity, calling on Prime Minister Edi Rama to focus on citizens' demands for transparency, accountability and the rule of law.

In a public reaction, EDP states that, while Albanian citizens have been protesting for weeks for more transparency and strengthening of institutions, the government is planning to spend millions of euros on an artist's concert.

While Albanians have been taking to the streets for weeks demanding transparency, accountability and the rule of law, Edi Rama is reportedly ready to spend 4 million euros of public money to save the concert of Kanye West, one of the most controversial artists in the world.

Prime Minister Rama should spend less time saving Kanye West's concert and more time listening to the citizens of his country.

Albania deserves more: democracy before spectacle, accountability before vanity projects, and a truly European future.
