There is no consensus on the joint resolution in the European Parliament, as the Socialist Party decided to reject more than 30 amendments proposed by the Democratic Party, which also received the support of MEPs.

The Albania-European Union Stabilization and Association Parliamentary Committee failed to adopt a joint resolution on Albania's integration process.

The reason was the rejection by the majority representatives of more than 30 amendments submitted by the Democratic Party, amendments that in their essence contained the vital criteria and requirements for advancing the European integration process.

The majority voted against proposals aimed at intensifying the fight against corruption, waiving the political protection offered to officials accused of corruption, implementing court decisions, in particular the Constitutional Court, and strengthening control, transparency and accountability mechanisms. These are fundamental standards that the European Union considers necessary for building a state of law and for advancing the integration process.

The Democratic Party's amendments received the support of MEPs in the Albania-European Union Stabilization and Association Parliamentary Committee, but were repeatedly rejected by Socialist Party representatives.

The representatives of the Democratic Party in the Committee reiterated their unwavering stance to do everything in the interest of Albania's European integration process. However, integration cannot be built on propaganda or political statements, but only on real and tangible reforms for Albanian citizens. The uncompromising fight against corruption and organized crime, respect for the rule of law, implementation of court decisions and increased living standards are the only conditions to lead Albania towards the European Union.
