206 million euros for Kosovo from EU funds, Kurti reveals the projects that will

The acting Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has announced that the European Union has approved a financing package of 206.4 million euros for Kosovo, which will support strategic projects within the framework of the IPA 2026, IPA 2027 and the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF) programs.

According to Kurti, on July 7, European authorities confirmed the approval of projects proposed by Kosovo under the IPA programs, worth 180.5 million euros. Their implementation will begin after the procedures for approval by the European Commission and ratification of the financial agreement in the Kosovo Assembly are completed.

The funds will be distributed across six main sectors: environmental and climate protection, energy, border and migration management, education, employment and competitiveness, good governance and the European integration process, and strengthening the rule of law.

Kurti announced that about half of the funding will be used for infrastructure projects, which will be implemented in cooperation with international partners and with co-financing from Kosovo institutions.

In addition, the European Union has approved €25.9 million in grants through the WBIF. These funds will support the preparation of investments in the Ibër-Lepenc Hydrosystem, the Qafë e Duhlës–Banulle highway segment, and the construction of the Podujevë wastewater treatment plant, a project to be implemented in partnership with the EBRD.

At the end of his reaction, Kurti thanked the European Union for its financial support, emphasizing that the investments will contribute to economic development, improving infrastructure and increasing the well-being of Kosovo citizens.
