Egypt complains to FIFA after elimination by Argentina, demands investigation

The Egyptian Football Federation has filed an official complaint with FIFA, requesting an investigation into the refereeing of the 3-2 loss to Argentina in the 1/8 finals of the World Cup.

In the complaint, the federation claims that the referees' decisions were accompanied by "double standards" and contributed to Egypt's elimination from the tournament. It also demanded that French referee François Letexier and other officials involved be suspended from the World Cup.

The dispute concerns the disallowance of Mostafa Zico's goal after VAR intervention for a foul early in the match, as well as an alleged penalty against Mohamed Salah that was not awarded seconds before Argentina's winning goal. The Egyptian FA argues that these decisions directly influenced the final result and the team's elimination.
