Experts warn: Phone use is changing our bodies

Prolonged use of phones and technological devices can have consequences not only for mental health, but also for physical health. Experts warn that spending hours in front of a screen can affect the neck, eyes and skin, causing problems that often go unnoticed.

One of the most common concerns is the phenomenon known as "tech neck." Constantly keeping your head bent to look at your phone significantly increases the load on your neck, which over time can damage the muscles, joints, and discs of your spine. Specialists recommend keeping your phone as close to eye level as possible and taking frequent breaks while using devices.

Experts have also raised concerns that this repetitive position could promote the appearance of wrinkles on the neck. Although dermatologists consider this connection possible, they emphasize that there is still a lack of definitive scientific evidence to confirm it.

Continuous use of smartwatches can also lead to skin problems. The warm, humid environment created under the watch can promote the growth of bacteria, increasing the risk of irritation, eczema, or allergic reactions. For this reason, it is advisable to remove the watch from time to time and clean the skin area regularly.

Another concern is the increase in cases of myopia globally. Researchers believe that the cause is not the phone itself, but the fact that technology use keeps people indoors longer. Spending more time outdoors, in natural light, is considered a protective factor for the normal development of vision.
