Latest Russian attack kills 20 people in Ukraine, Kiev targets Russia's

Ukrainian drones struck the Russian Omsk refinery, the largest in the country and located deep in Siberia, in what would be one of the longest-range Ukrainian attacks since the start of the war, Kiev's military said.

In a statement, Ukraine's General Staff said the attack had caused a fire at the Omsk refinery, which is located about 2,700 km from Ukrainian-controlled territory and close to Russia's border with Kazakhstan.

In a post on Telegram, the governor of the Omsk region, Vitaly Khotsenko, did not specify a target, but said that several Ukrainian drones had reached the "northern industrial center of Omsk," where the refinery is located.

He said the full impact of the attack was being assessed and emergency services were dealing with the aftermath.

Ukraine has escalated attacks against Russian oil refineries, causing acute fuel shortages across the country's 11 time zones.

In addition to Omsk, the Ukrainian military overnight struck the Russian ports of Ust-Luga and Vysotsk, which handle oil exports to the Baltic Sea, as well as targets in the Kaluga and Yaroslavl regions, local governors said.

We recall that in the recent massive attack carried out overnight by Russia in Ukraine, 20 people lost their lives.
