American Professor: Democracy in Kosovo is Suffering, Leaders Must Find

American professor Edward P. Joseph has stated that resolving the political impasse in Kosovo is the responsibility of all political leaders, while calling on citizens to punish them with a vote if they fail to reach an agreement.

In an interview with Ekonomia Online, Joseph said that the greatest responsibility lies with the acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, due to the majority he has in the Assembly, but emphasized that the responsibility is not his alone.

According to the American professor, the current blockade does not undermine the stability of Kosovo, which he describes as a stable state and democracy, but constitutes a blow to the country's democratic development.

Joseph also focused on relations with the United States, describing the suspension of the strategic dialogue as a negative development and assessing that the Kosovo Government has lost the opportunity to gain the trust of the Serbian community.

Commenting on the process at the Specialist Chambers in The Hague, he said that he has no information on the progress of the trial, but expressed concern that there may be a tendency to issue at least one conviction, due to the length and high cost of the process.
