The State Police has cracked down on a case of international drug trafficking, seizing around 46 kilograms of cannabis sativa that was suspected of being transported from Canada to Albania.

During the operation codenamed "Suitcases", in cooperation with the Rinas Border Police and Customs Authorities, 89 packages of narcotics hidden in two suitcases were discovered, with a market value of around 250 thousand euros.

34-year-old Kristian Gjoni was arrested, while two women were prosecuted at large. Investigations continue to identify other individuals involved in this criminal activity.

The police operation codenamed "Suitcases" is being finalized by the Narcotics Investigation Section, in cooperation with the Rinas Police Commissariat and the Customs Authorities.

An attempted case of trafficking of approximately 46 kg of the narcotic cannabis sativa from Canada to Albania has been cracked.

1 citizen is arrested and 2 citizens are criminally prosecuted. 89 packages of cannabis sativa narcotic substance are seized, with a total weight of about 46 kg, with a market value of about 250,000 euros.

As a result of investigations and rapid operational actions, carried out on the basis of information obtained operationally, specialists of the Narcotics Investigation Section, in cooperation with the services of the Rinas Police Commissariat and the Customs Authorities, finalized the police operation codenamed "Suitcases", cracking down on a case of international trafficking of narcotics from Canada to Albania.

During the operation, two suitcases were found, inside which were 89 sealed packages of suspected cannabis sativa narcotics, in the form of gelatin, with a total weight of about 46 kilograms, with a market value of about 250,000 euros.

As part of this operation, K. Gj., 34 years old, was arrested in flagrante delicto, and A. Gj., 31 years old, and L. Sh., 40 years old, were criminally prosecuted while at large.

Investigations are ongoing, using special investigative methods, to identify and hold criminally liable other citizens who may be involved in this criminal activity.

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office for further action.
