The protest held today in front of Parliament was accompanied by strong tensions between citizens and the State Police. The officers used irritating spray, pressurized water and intervened with force to disperse the protesters, leading to scenes of clashes that marked the protest.

Despite these developments, Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu made no comment on the use of force against the protesters.

In her public reaction, she chose to defend the State Police and label the protest participants as "vandals", accusing them of having planned the violence from the start of the rally.

"It took very little for this protest to take off its mask. From meme banners, to eggs, and then to violence and chaos, exactly where it seemed it was planned to end from the beginning. This is no longer a civic protest with just causes. It is the same old scenario, the same worn-out refrain of a group of vandals who have left Albania, to remind Albanians every day why we should not return to these ugly examples. Full support for the State Police in establishing public order and peace. Anyone who exceeds legal limits will be held accountable before the courts ," Koçiu said.
