Amid protests, Rama issues "check" for pensioners, 5 thousand lek

As protests against the government continue, the Rama cabinet has decided to distribute a bonus of 5,000 new lek to pensioners.

The decision was announced by Finance Minister Delina Ibrahimaj, who said that the surprise bonus will begin to be distributed starting tomorrow.

"We decided to grant a bonus for pensioners, it will be a summer bonus worth 5,000 lek. There are over 777,000 pensioners who will benefit from this bonus, people with disability status. The financial effect of this bonus is about 3.7 billion lek. We will continue to pay increased attention to the income of pensioners. This bonus is given for the first time in the middle of the year. It will start being distributed from tomorrow. The bonus is added to the bonus that pensioners have been receiving since January," said the minister.

This action is seen as a way to mitigate the discontent that has erupted in the country for a month. The citizen protest demands the removal of Prime Minister Rama, pointing out corruption scandals, low incomes, mass emigration, problems that the government ignores.
