The Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime has sentenced citizen Saimir Rosales Rodriguez, accused of being one of the key persons in the processing and distribution of cocaine discovered in the Frakulla laboratory in Fier, to 14 years in prison.

The trial against him has been conducted in absentia, while Albanian authorities are continuing the procedures for his extradition from Colombia.

According to SPAK investigations, Rodriguez is suspected of having played an important role in the criminal activity of the cocaine laboratory, discovered during an operation conducted on November 24, 2022 in the apartment of the former mayor of Frakull, Viktor Çervanaku, which was adapted for drug processing.

The Special Prosecution Office has announced that the shipment of approximately 485.5 kilograms of cocaine had arrived in Albania mixed with artificial chemical fertilizer, initially passing from Colombia to the Port of Piraeus in Greece, then to the Port of Bari in Montenegro and further to Albanian territory on September 19, 2022.

According to SPAK, if the narcotic substance were to be released on the market, it would bring a potential profit of around 40 million euros.

On March 6 of this year, the GJKKO approved five new security measures, of which three have been executed, while two people have been declared wanted. The defendants include names such as Kevin (Arjan) Margjoni, Durim Keçi, Klevent Gjolena, Aldi Zonja and Musa Gjikola.

According to SPAK, these individuals are suspected of being part of a criminal organization with 15 members, involved in several episodes of international drug trafficking, where some of the defendants have been previously convicted by the Criminal Court of Kosovo.

For the same trafficking episode, 10 Albanian citizens and Colombian Saimir Rosales Rodriguez have previously been convicted.
