Fire in Mallakastër, Bylis Archaeological Park at risk

A large-scale fire engulfed a forest area between the village of Klos and the Bylis Archaeological Park, in the Municipality of Mallakastra, this Sunday.

The fire has caused damage to areas with olive trees, shrubs and wild vegetation.

It is suspected that the flames first broke out near the rural road connecting Hekal with Klos, where an area planted with olive trees was engulfed by fire. Then, favored by strong winds, the flames quickly spread to areas covered with junipers and dry vegetation.

The fire has also penetrated the territory of the Bylis Archaeological Park, where bushes and dry grass have burned.
