Government repression of protests continues, minister threatens more

After declaring Ikball Huduti Berisha 'persona non-grata' in Albania for 15 years, the government has warned that it will continue with sanctions.

Invited to an interview with Euronews Albania, Interior Minister Besfort Lamallari stated that other persons could be declared "Non Grata" by the government on the grounds that they threaten the country's national security.

"Every week, I have dozens of requests coming in from law enforcement agencies on my desk. This is a dynamic job that continues day after day."

If it happens that these people participate, in addition to their daily activities, of course I said dangerous, also participate in protests, this does not mean that we will be intimidated. Our task is to implement the law point by point, because at the end of the day, regardless of the nuances or different political situations, the State Police must be at the forefront of the task and protect Albanian citizens. And, without being intimidated by the public pressure that can be created by the different trials that may come, " declared Lamallari.
