Accusations of a tense climate in Switzerland, Germany star: Xhaka is the

German media reports of a tense climate in the Swiss national team have been contradicted by German footballer Robin Gossens, who has openly come to the defense of Swiss captain Granit Xhaka.

Following Switzerland's win over Canada, German media claimed that there was a tense atmosphere in the dressing room due to Xhaka's outspoken nature and frequent criticism of the team. However, Gosens dismissed these claims, questioning the sources of the information.

"How can they know that the atmosphere is toxic? I don't believe anyone has information from inside the locker room," he said, adding that such headlines are often created to attract public attention.

The German footballer stressed that he trusts more the testimonies of people who know Xhaka closely, especially his former Atalanta teammate, Remo Freuler. According to Gosens, all the information he has received from Freuler describes Xhaka as an undisputed leader and key figure within the team.

He described the midfielder of Albanian origin as the team's point of reference, the player who takes responsibility in decisive moments and leads the team on the field.

Gosens admitted that Xhaka is a very direct person and that his communication style may not be to everyone's liking. However, according to him, this does not diminish the great role he has in Switzerland.

"The team is guided by him. He is the extension of the coach on the field and the player everyone looks to when they need guidance," Gosens declared, underlining the importance of the captain in the organization and functioning of the Helvetic team.
