SP rejects DP's request for a motion with debate on the protest, Balla: We

The DP's request for a motion with debate on the protesters' demands was rejected at the Conference of Speakers after it failed to reach agreement.

Calling for the citizens' voices to be heard, opposition MPs told the Conference of Speakers that the parliament has an obligation to discuss the protesters' demands and the European Parliament's report. Unanimously, they said that the EP mentions the protest as a concern in the report.

Gazment Bardhi reiterated to the majority that he is terrified of the debate because "this resolution is being criticized in every sentence, from beginning to end."

Referring to the DP protests, Balla accused the MPs of distorting the protesters' demands and speaking on their behalf. He even challenged them to file a no-confidence motion and collect signatures if they wanted the government to resign.

"You came here with the demands of the protesters, and you even distorted them. First, I did not approach you and I do not even recognize you as representatives of the protest. You are the biggest losers of this protest. Second, you are asking for a motion with debate for the resignation of the government. If you have the guts and the backbone, come on, make a motion of no confidence, collect signatures and appoint your candidate for prime minister," the head of the SP parliamentary group challenged them.
"If you, as the majority, want to behave like this, we, as the opposition, will not allow it. You cannot behave normally in this hall, when the square in front of it has been filled with citizens demanding the removal of the government and the prime minister for 25 days, and who have concrete demands. The voice of this protest has reached the European Parliament and their concerns have become part of the latest reports of the European Parliament," said Jorida Tabaku.

Meanwhile, Bardhi stated that the majority does not talk about the protest because it 'eavesdrops' on citizens to attack them.

"Twenty members of the European Parliament are talking about the protest in Albania, while none of you have said a single word. But you don't have time for that, because you are eavesdropping behind the keyhole to attack the protesters," said Bardhi.

Calling the failure to address the protests in the Assembly "absurd," PL MP Tedi Blushi said that parliament should have "the demands of Albanians as its main agenda."
