After three weeks of continuous protests in the capital, the President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, has reacted for the first time regarding political developments in the country, emphasizing the importance of respecting citizens' right to express themselves and participate in public life.

His statement was made during the ceremony marking the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Tirana Prefecture, an activity that coincided with a moment of political tension and civic mobilization on the streets of the capital.

Begaj stated that the right to protest and free expression is a value guaranteed by the Constitution and must be exercised in accordance with the law and democratic order.

"This activity takes place at a time when citizens are publicly expressing their concerns and expectations in a peaceful manner. In respect of the constitutional position, constitutional neutrality, I can emphasize that the right to express oneself and to participate in public life is a value protected by the Constitution, which must be exercised in accordance with the Constitution and the laws of the country, " declared the President.

He added that the consolidation of democracy and the sustainable development of the country depend on cooperation between citizens and institutions, as well as on respect for the constitutional framework and the rule of law.
