Luka Modric will reach another historic milestone in his remarkable career tonight, as he is expected to play his 200th match with the Croatian national team in the challenge against Panama at the 2026 World Cup.
At 40, the legendary midfielder continues to be the leader of the Croatians and one of the most respected footballers in the world. With this jubilee appearance, he ranks among the players with the most international appearances in history, while among active footballers only Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have more caps for their national teams.
Modric made his debut for Croatia in 2006 and has since participated in five European Championships and five World Cups, leading the team to second place in the 2018 World Cup and third place in 2022.
In addition to his success with the national team, he remains the most decorated footballer in Real Madrid's history with 28 trophies won, while in 2018 he also won the Ballon d'Or.
Today, against Panama, Modric celebrates another record that confirms him as one of the greatest icons of modern football.
