Writer Ndriçim Kulla has presented his newest book, titled "The Tyranny of Smiles - A Political and Psychological Portrait of Edi Rama" , a work that, according to the author, aims to analyze the phenomenon of power and its impact on Albanian democracy.

Through a message to readers, Kulla states that the book was not written as an attack on an individual, but as an attempt to understand the mechanisms of power and how it affects institutions, the media, and public life.

According to the author, the figure of Edi Rama is treated in the book not only as that of a prime minister, but as a political phenomenon that has exerted a wide influence on Albanian society.

Kulla argues that modern forms of domination do not necessarily manifest themselves through force or repression, but often through propaganda, spectacle, and control of the public narrative.

In this work, the author focuses on the relationship between power and truth, the functioning of democratic institutions, and the role of intellectual elites in protecting democratic values.

He describes the book as a reflection on the challenges of Albanian democracy and the consequences that, according to him, the current models of governance have brought.

"The Tyranny of Smiles - A Political and Psychological Portrait of Edi Rama"

A surprising book about democracy written by Ndriçim Kulla

"The Tyranny of Smiles – A Political and Psychological Portrait of Edi Rama" was not written out of a desire to attack an individual. It was born out of a need to understand a phenomenon. Because in history, more important than individuals are the phenomena they represent.

Political power is not just administration. It is also culture, psychology, a way of communication, a relationship with truth, a relationship with freedom and a relationship with the citizen. Therefore, when a person stays in power for a long time, as is happening today with Edi Rama, he ceases to be simply a prime minister and becomes a system of influence that penetrates institutions, the media, public life and even the way people think about reality.

This book attempts to analyze precisely this process.

The title "The Tyranny of the Smile" may seem paradoxical. Tyranny is usually imagined with the harsh face of violence, fear, and repression. But modern times have invented more sophisticated forms of domination. They do not always come with open threats. They often come wrapped in spectacle, propaganda, humor, smiles, and promises.

History teaches us that power does not become dangerous only when it uses force. It becomes dangerous when it manages to impose an artificial reality, when it manages to replace fact with lies, and when citizens begin to doubt their own eyes more than the propaganda they are served every day.

For this reason, the book is not only a political biography of the adventurism of Edi Rama. It is also a reflection on the state of Albanian democracy, on its deformations, on the destruction of institutions, on the relationship between power and truth, as well as on the responsibility that the intellectual elite has to not remain silent.

I hope that each of you will read this book not as an act of political polemic of the day, but as a political culture, as an attempt to understand the mechanisms of power of Edi Rama's regime and the consequences that they have brought today to the life of the Albanian nation.

Thank you in advance for your possible attention while reading.
