"Justice delays, but it does not forget", Berisha's ultimatum to

The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has reacted to Prime Minister Edi Rama's statements after Saturday's protest held in Tirana, saying that the head of government experienced it as a "personal Waterloo".

Through a video message, Berisha stated that the protest of citizens, youth and the diaspora constitutes a historic moment, while according to him, Rama experienced it as a serious political defeat and asked the head of government to leave as soon as possible.

"Resign from office as soon as possible and await the verdict of justice, which delays but does not forget," declared the leader of the Democratic Party.

According to the leader of the Democratic Party, the protest held in front of the Prime Minister's Office and the high participation of citizens show the level of dissatisfaction with the government.

"Edi Rama seems to have experienced the protest of half a million Albanians and the tight siege of the Prime Minister's Office as his Waterloo. This half-broken by the epic protest of half a million Albanians gathered from all four corners of Albania and the four corners of the earth, in fact threatened the protesters with massacres and bloodshed," Berisha said.

Referring to literary comparisons used by Rama, Berisha compared the prime minister to Victor Hugo's character Thenardie.

"A type like Thenardie, Edi Rama steals and has stolen this time from the poorest people. He has stolen the vote, public funds, medicine for the sick, public assets and the hope of Albanians," he said.
