Euro hits new negative record, drops to 93 lek

The euro has started the week with a decline, causing its value against the lek to record another negative record. According to the official exchange rate of the Bank of Albania, one euro today was exchanged for an average of 94.3 lek.

A citizen who exchanged 100 euros today received only 9,400 lek from the exchange point, while a citizen who decided to buy 100 euros paid 9,460 lek. These values are 4% lower than in June last year.

The euro's decline has deepened even further as the peak of the summer season approaches, and the situation is expected to worsen further, due to the high flow of foreign currency entering our country.

According to the Bank, in addition to tourism, foreign investments and remittances are also having an impact on the depreciation of the euro, but according to experts and the opposition, money laundering plays a key role in this issue.

This weakening of the euro against the lek continues to hit exporters, families that rely on remittances, and those who have their income in foreign currency.
