American Chamber of Commerce raises alarm: Corruption and monopoly are hitting

The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), in collaboration with "Monitor" magazine, held today the Business Forum on the topic "How is the economy doing?", where the 14th edition of the Business Index was also presented.

During the forum, AmCham Executive Director Neritan Mullaj raised concerns about several factors that, according to business, are negatively affecting the economic climate in the country.

He emphasized that monopoly, corruption and unfair competition remain among the main problems, while noting that these indicators continue to remain at worrying levels.

According to him, businesses also report deteriorating relations with institutions and an increasingly polarized political climate, which is affecting economic development.

"The main concerns are monopoly, corruption and unfair competition. These parameters have declined, in addition to finding qualified staff. Despite the increasing level, it is far from 50%. There is talk of a systematic deterioration in terms of the relationship between business and institutional policies. What is the biggest decline compared to 2024? There are 3 of them that constitute the important essence; the internal political climate, infrastructure and the perception of corruption. These points also mark the highest result. The business climate has also declined, the value remains below historical minimums. This constitutes an alarm for all of us, especially for business. The level of corruption has increased, which returns to the top of the reform agenda, which is required by businesses," he said.
