Bushati: When the two democratic paths are closed, only the path of force

Despite the peaceful nature of the protest that has been taking place in front of the Prime Minister's Office for 23 days, analyst Andi Bushati warns that citizens' demands risk remaining simply a political aspiration if they are faced with a prime minister who refuses to step down.

Analyzing the situation on Syri TV, Bushati argued that the democratic mechanisms that usually produce political change are blocked in Albania, while adding that the rhetoric used by Edi Rama towards the protesters is creating the conditions for a dangerous escalation of the situation.

Bushati : The problem is that in those demands there is a kind of romanticism, let's say. Why? Because the current situation in Albania is not at all compatible with those five demands. Why? That is, our problem is not how we can fix the next day, but what we will do with a person who has no intention of leaving. Such movements usually have three ways out. The first way out is an enlightened leader, who sees that a part of the people, even if not all of the people, is against it and says: "I withdraw". There are European prime ministers who have left for much less than that. There is a second way, which we saw today with the English prime minister. So, the party sees that you have become an obstacle and is leading the party to a dead end, and it is the party itself with a, let's say, fancy words, a coup d'état within the party, that takes you aside. These are very democratic ways. And unfortunately, we are not a democratic country, which is why such ways fail.

The third path that remains is the path of violence. And who is inspiring the path of violence? So far, the protesters who gather 100 thousand people in the square and do not break a single branch or break a single window, have decided that they are fundamentally peaceful. On the other hand, who is fueling the violence in society at this moment? The violence in society at this moment is being fueled by Edi Rama. Those peaceful ones, he says, are agents of the Iranians. Those peaceful ones, he says, were put there by Greece to ruin tourism. Those peaceful ones, he says, were put there by that communist Albin Kurti. Those peaceful ones, are the Albanians of Macedonia. And to the other algorithms, the other. So, Rama is trying at all costs to provoke them towards violence.

And I am afraid, I am afraid that the only solution left to those people in the square, imposed by Rama, is violence. Why is it violence? It is violence because from those first two factors that I mentioned, Rama has no intention of blushing and running away, this is understandable. It is also evident from his language. He is apparently holding the party hostage. If you listen to the voice, that we have second, third sources, but what he has said to his deputies, "palaces, brigades", blackmailing them "you have left me alone, I will cope alone", it is a party that he has taken hostage. Then when the first two solutions are almost impossible, violence remains. The problem is, before the five demands are reached. If this protest escalates towards violence, what could the results be?

We will be convinced that there will be no more family members, women, children, with wheelchairs and others, and others. But can it embolden another part of society, connect it with this radical opposition that every... I am afraid that it will be headed towards it and it is the only path left for the protest to achieve the five demands. And, they are not responsible for the violence, the government is doing the violence, but apparently if it continues on this path, we will all suffer the consequences of that violence. But not always the consequences of violence are worse than the result achieved by violence. We have an example here, a very tragic example with 2,000 killed, which is '97. But when violence gives birth to a better society. So, before the alternative of Edi Rama continuing to steal, massacre, usurp and violence, I choose this second one, because Rama has left only this alternative.
