The Union of Trade Unions protested in front of the Ministry of Finance this Tuesday, as part of the protests that have united Albanian citizens in various squares in the country and abroad for 24 days.

The protesters have raised a number of issues that, according to them, have accompanied them throughout this period, placing emphasis mainly on the need for better wages, dignified working conditions, and stopping the phenomenon of immigration.

"Let's give hope back to the young people to return to their country, to work hard, to have dignified conditions and to be able to raise their families here. This protest is for our children, so that they can enjoy their country," said one of the speakers.

Protesters also demanded the resignation of Edi Rama and local institutions. In a speech on the occasion of Public Services Day, union representatives called on public sector employees to organize and unite to protect their rights in the workplace.

"Public service workers must take their destiny into their own hands. They must unite, organize and demand their rights at work. If they want to live with dignity, the only way is solidarity and organization," declared one of the organizers. Another issue raised during the protest was opposition to the privatization of public services.

The unions described Public-Private Partnerships as failed and clientelistic, demanding that the management of some services be returned to public administration.

According to them, municipalities should take control of the management of cleaning services, while privatization of public sectors is not a solution for providing quality services to citizens.

Protesters called on citizens to support public service workers and contribute to efforts for social justice and sustainable economic and social development.
