Berisha: Rama is restoring surveillance of citizens like in a dictatorship, protests are monitored with robotic cameras

The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, during a conference with journalists, accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of building a broad surveillance system against citizens, which he compared to the practices of the communist dictatorship.
Berisha stated that during the communist period, public spaces were monitored through eavesdropping devices, while according to him, today the government has established an even more advanced control system.
According to the democratic leader, after installing devices for monitoring internet communications, as part of the measures taken during the TikTok blockade, the government has also put into operation the "Smart City" project, which is based on the use of cameras with advanced technology and high resolution.
Berisha claimed that these cameras are being used to monitor citizen protests and not for public services, as he said happens in other European countries.
"Robotic cameras have been installed in several areas of Tirana, which monitor the peaceful protest of citizens day and night. These cameras are not administered by the municipality, but are at the disposal of the State Police and what I call a police state," said Berisha.
He described the situation as a violation of civil liberties and demanded transparency on how the camera system is used and the data collected from it.
FULL WORD
Edi Rama completely restores the surveillance of citizens from the darkest times of the communist dictatorship.
As a reminder, for entire generations who do not know, during the dictatorship, all outdoor spaces, the sides of the boulevards, trees, bridges, etc., etc., were filled with what we called bugs at that time, which recorded 24 hours a day every conversation made by citizens sitting on the sides of the sidewalks, or on benches, or in parks.
The madness of the dictatorship knew no bounds.
Today, Edi Rama has established an even deeper, more complete surveillance system than the one that existed during the dictatorship.
After installing the recording devices and the complete interception of the internet in Albania, which he did on the occasion of the TikTok blocking and which continue to totally control internet communications in Albania today, Edi Rama equipped and placed at the disposal of the State Police the project called Smart City.
Smart City is a project based on robotic cameras, with very high resolution and great capabilities, which in Europe is totally administered by municipalities and which is entirely in the function of services to citizens.
Please, here you have a robotic camera that monitors the protest, the peaceful uprising of citizens and Albanian youth day and night.
Such cameras have been placed in all four corners of Tirana and all of them are not at the disposal of the municipality, but at the disposal of the police state and the State Police.
