The court hearing against former President Ilir Meta and former MP Monika Kryemadhi has been postponed to July 9, after a hearing accompanied by debates and mutual accusations between the two ex-spouses.

During the hearing, Meta requested an independent financial expertise to verify his assets and income over the years, objecting to the way in which, according to him, the income was calculated by the investigative bodies.

The former president stated that he will coordinate with the defense to present witnesses according to the episodes of the case, while insisting that important elements, such as per diems received while performing state duties, have been left out of the financial calculations.

" The errors in calculating assets are not a coincidence. I request that the same methodology be used for me that was used for judges and prosecutors during the vetting process," Meta declared before the trial panel.

He argued that during his years in high state positions, he benefited from per diems from official trips abroad, which, according to him, were not taken into account in the financial analyses.

" I have been Foreign Minister, MP and President. I have spent hundreds of days on official trips and it is absurd to claim that all my allowances have been spent ," Meta said.

In conclusion, he requested an independent expertise for both his personal wealth and the period when he was in a family relationship with Monika Kryemadhi, requesting that all legal income documented over the years be analyzed.

After discussions and procedural requests, the court decided to postpone the hearing to July 9.
