Portugal have secured a comprehensive victory at the 2026 World Cup, defeating Uzbekistan with a convincing 5-0 scoreline in a match where Cristiano Ronaldo was once again decisive for Roberto Martínez's team.

The Portuguese started the match strongly, taking the lead in the 6th minute with Cristiano Ronaldo, who finished accurately after an assist from João Cancelo.

The advantage was doubled in the 17th minute with Nuno Mendes, who scored a precise free kick, bringing the score to 2-0.

In the 29th minute, Uzbekistan thought they had narrowed the deficit with a goal from distance, but VAR ruled it out for a foul in the build-up, keeping Portugal's lead intact.

In the second half, Portugal continued to dominate and an own goal by goalkeeper Nematov brought the score to 4-0, while in the 87th minute Rafael Leão sealed the score 5-0 with a powerful shot from outside the area.
