A tragic event occurred on Wednesday afternoon in Pieve di Camaiore, in the province of Lucca in Italy, where a 63-year-old man is suspected of killing his wife and son inside the family home.

According to preliminary information from Italian media , the victims were the couple's 52-year-old wife and 24-year-old son, who were shot with a shotgun during a serious episode of domestic violence.

Neighbors were the ones who notified emergency services and law enforcement after hearing the shots. Carabinieri, police and medical teams immediately arrived at the scene.

The authorities were able to neutralize and detain the suspected perpetrator, who was in the apartment at the time of the arrival of law enforcement.

Residents of the area have stated that the family had had occasional problems and tensions, but no one had imagined such a serious outcome.

Emergency services 118 and a rescue helicopter were also deployed to the scene, but nothing more could be done for the two victims. Investigators have begun work to clarify the dynamics of the incident and the motives that led to this double crime.
