Kosovo not invited to NATO Summit, Ministry of Defense explains reasons

The Kosovo Ministry of Defense has reacted to reports about the lack of an invitation for Kosovo to the NATO Summit being held in Turkey, clarifying that the country does not participate in these summits as a participating state due to its current status in relation to the alliance.

In an official response, the ministry emphasizes that Kosovo is not a member of NATO nor part of the Partnership for Peace (PfP) Program, which automatically excludes it from participation in alliance summits.

According to the institution, this is not a new situation, as Kosovo has not participated in previous NATO summits as a participating state. The only exceptions have been some special activities organized within the framework of the summits, such as the “Women, Peace and Security” initiative, supported by the US Department of State during last year's summit.

"NATO summits are meetings of the heads of state and government of member countries, as well as of partners invited on certain occasions," the Ministry of Defense's explanation states.

However, the Kosovo authorities reiterated that they remain committed to the strategic objective of NATO membership, continuing reforms and cooperation with the alliance and its member countries.
