What's happening with the Bënja baths, from curative to ponds

This view from the Benja Thermal Baths has attracted many local and foreign visitors to the southeast of the country for years. But a project to redesign and attract more visitors has had the opposite effect. Today, the concrete and expanded baths have dried up, and the thermal spring has turned from curative to stagnant water that can put you at risk of allergies or various reactions.

The visitors themselves, who had come to Benja to experience the sensation they had experienced before, express more than regret for this investment that has severely damaged this natural masterpiece. The current situation at Benja's Spa is considered unacceptable even by foreign visitors, who were expecting to see the bathtub and natural spring of this attraction.

"You have a wonderful nature, but you have to take care of it. I have seen beautiful nature in many other places, but it is not treated with the care it deserves," they tell A2 CNN.

Meanwhile, officials from the Municipality of Përmet and the Regional Directorate of Protected Areas say off-camera that they will intervene to stabilize the situation, but without specifying what kind of intervention will be carried out. Meanwhile, no one is talking about those responsible for this situation, in which the Bënja baths are currently located.
