The 2026 World Cup enters the decisive phase, the first duels of the direct

The knockout phase of the 2026 World Cup is taking shape, with some of the first pairings already confirmed. With just six matches remaining in the current phase, teams are starting to learn the path that lies ahead for them towards the final.

One of the most interesting matches will be between Germany and Paraguay, while France will challenge Sweden. The winners of these two matches will face each other in the round of 16.

Defending champions Argentina will face surprise debutants Cape Verde. The winner of this match will then play the winner of the Australia-Egypt match.

Another confirmed duel is between Ivory Coast and Norway, while the winner will face the team that will triumph in the Brazil-Japan match.

Meanwhile, several other important national teams, such as Spain, Belgium, Mexico, Switzerland, Colombia and Senegal, have secured qualification, but do not yet know their opponents in the knockout stage.
