File 5D/ GJKKO releases Taulant Tushen from house arrest

The Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime has accepted the request of the former director of the Municipality of Tirana, Taulant Tusha, replacing the security measure from "house arrest" to "compulsion to appear" within the framework of the file known as "5D".

Taulant Tushe is one of the names involved in the sensational Tirana incinerator case, a case that has raised serious allegations of abuse of power and corruption in relation to the procedures followed for the construction and management of incinerators.

Investigations into this file were conducted by SPAK and have led to arrests and security measures for several former officials and persons associated with concession contracts.

In addition to this file, Tushe is also accused in the case known as "5D", which is related to suspicions of corruption and violations of the law in tenders and public projects developed by local institutions. This case is also under the jurisdiction of the Special Prosecution Office and continues to be under investigation.

Taulant Tusha has been part of the Socialist Party since the first day of power. Initially, Tusha held the position of Director of Support Services in the Ministry of Social Affairs and Youth, headed by Erion Veliaj at the time. But as soon as Veliaj was elected mayor of Tirana, Tusha was appointed Director of Public Works in the Municipality.

After that, Tusha also headed the Board of Directors of the Tirana Water Supply Company. But in 2016, when the Waste Concession Commission was created, Tusha was Veliaj's envoy.

Taulant Tusha has been criminally charged over the Tirana incinerator case by opposition representatives in the Parliamentary Investigative Committee, established for the Incinerators affair.

Likewise, the Alliance for the Protection of the Theater has Taulant Tusha on the priority list of those accused of destroying the National Theater.

Also, opposition representatives have accused Taulant Tusha as one of the persons responsible for the inflated financial bill for the construction of the "Sami Frashëri" high school.
