Albania is 'scorching', temperatures up to 40 degrees are predicted

Albania will face the hottest day of this season today, with temperatures expected to reach up to 40 degrees Celsius in some areas of the country.

Meteorologist Tanja Porja warned that a red alert has been declared for extreme temperatures, marking the start of the three-day peak of the heat wave.

Porja announced that there will be isolated showers today, mainly in the eastern and southeastern areas of the country, while most of the territory will be dominated by clear weather and sunshine.

According to the meteorologist, minimum temperatures during the morning were 16°C in the deepest mountainous areas, while in the western part they fluctuated from 21 to 24°C.

"So red all day. Red alert today. Yes, 40° we expect today in Shkodra. The rest of the day 36, 38, 39°C. A pretty hot day. However, this morning appears relatively cool with a minimum value of around 16° in the deep mountainous areas.

Meanwhile, today at noon we expect 40°, as we said, in completely isolated areas. The peak of the three-day heat wave begins today as we have 40 today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow as well, and we expect that from Tuesday of next week the temperature in the territory will continue to decrease significantly," said Porja.

"Approaching noon, we have a development of cloudiness in the southeast where short-term showers will occur. The sun will continue to prevail on the coastline," Porja said on the "Dita Jonë" show on A2 CNN.
