Paraguay declares national holiday after historic World Cup triumph over Germany

Paraguay has been engulfed in a festive atmosphere following the national team's sensational victory over Germany in the World Cup, a success that was immediately followed by a symbolic decision by the country's authorities.

President Santiago Peña announced that today would be a national holiday, making the decision public through a post on social media just minutes after the final whistle of the match.

"Paraguay never gives up! Celebration, damn it!" Peña wrote, joining the enthusiasm of the fans who took to the streets to celebrate the national team's success.

A little later, the Presidency of the Republic published the official decree, which stated that the day off was declared in honor of the Paraguayan representative's historic achievement.

The Paraguay national team has qualified for the World Cup, after eliminating Germany on penalties in the round of 16.

With this victory, Paraguay secured a place in the round of 16, where they will face the winner of the duel between France and Sweden.
