The extreme temperatures that have swept across Europe in recent days have also affected Albania, where in Tirana the thermometer has reached up to 40 degrees Celsius.

In the capital, citizens and tourists were seen seeking coolness in fountains, parks, and shaded areas, as the intense heat made movement during rush hour more limited. The following photos were provided by Reuters .

The situation in Albania comes at the same time as a widespread heat wave that has swept several European countries, where health authorities are reporting a significant increase in emergency cases and increased pressure on hospital systems.

In France and the United Kingdom, hospitals have been overwhelmed by the influx of patients, with some non-urgent interventions being postponed to cope. Authorities have warned that high temperatures, both during the day and at night, are increasing the risk to the health of the population, especially for the elderly and people with chronic diseases.

Even in Albania, public health experts advise citizens to avoid sun exposure during peak hours, to hydrate the body continuously, and to use cool public spaces when possible.
