Veliaj becomes a father for the second time, SPAK gives him special permission

Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj, who is in custody as part of SPAK investigations, has become a father for the second time.

It is learned that today, the authorities have approved a special permit for him to temporarily leave detention, in order to be present at the maternity ward, where his wife Ajola Xoxa has given birth to the child.

According to sources, the permission granted by SPAK only allowed Veliaj a limited visit to meet the newborn and his wife, Ajola. 

Erion Veliaj was arrested on February 10, 2025, suspected by the authorities of corruption and money laundering, and is currently in custody.

Meanwhile, a "ban on leaving the country" and "obligation to report to the judicial police" measure has been imposed on Veliaj's wife, Ajola Xoxa, suspected of several criminal offenses.
