Berisha condemns violence against protesters: I demand their immediate release

DP leader Sali Berisha has reacted harshly to the violence that police officers used against protesters who gathered in front of Parliament today.

In a reaction, Berisha states that the police used such violence on Rama's orders and demanded the immediate release of those arrested.

I condemn in the strongest terms the violence and arrogance of the State Police towards protesting citizens. It is unacceptable that, while in Parliament Edi Rama's servants are trying to devalue the magnificent protest of Albanians, they send the police to the streets to rape those who demand to be heard.

When a government does not respond to citizens with arguments, but with force, it shows fear, not power. Violence against peaceful protesters and attempts to silence their voices are clear signs of the arrogance of power and of a regime that has lost legitimacy in the eyes of citizens.

I demand their immediate release!
