Gjykata e Lartë ka vendosur të prishë vendimin e Gjykatës së Apelit të Juridiksionit të Përgjithshëm, që në korrik të vitit 2023 dënoi me burgim të përjetshëm Mexhit Picarin për vrasjen e dhëndrit të tij, Kudret Saliaj.
Me këtë vendim, çështja do të shqyrtohet sërish nga një tjetër trupë gjykuese e Apelit. Vendimi i Gjykatës së Lartë erdhi pas rekursit të paraqitur nga avokati Adriatik Cama, i cili mbeti i plagosur gjatë atentatit të 4 qershorit 2021.
Në kërkesën e tij, Cama kundërshtoi vendimin e Apelit për Dhurata Saliajn, duke kërkuar që ajo të shpallet fajtore edhe për bashkëpunim në vrasje dhe jo vetëm për krijimin e kushteve për kryerjen e saj.
Në vendimin e dhënë në vitin 2023, Apeli la në fuqi dënimin me burgim të përjetshëm për Mexhit Picarin, ndërsa Dhurata Saliaj u dënua me 4 vite e 6 muaj burg për veprën penale të krijimit të kushteve për kryerjen e vrasjes, duke rrëzuar akuzën e bashkëpunimit në vrasje.
Krimi ndodhi më 4 qershor 2021 në një lokal pranë Gjykatës Civile të Tiranës, pak minuta përpara se të zhvillohej seanca e pestë gjyqësore e procesit të divorcit mes Kudret dhe Dhurata Saliajt. Sipas hetimeve, Mexhit Picari qëlloi për vdekje ish-dhëndrin e tij me armë zjarri, ndërsa nga të shtënat mbeti i plagosur edhe avokati i viktimës, Adriatik Cama, i cili arriti t’u mbijetonte plagëve.
