Haaland sends Norway into quarterfinals, Brazil next obstacle

Norway made World Cup history by securing their first ever knockout stage victory. The Scandinavian team triumphed 2-1 over Ivory Coast in a close-fought match to book their place in the quarter-finals.

The Norwegians started the match at a high pace and created the first dangerous chances, with Erling Haaland coming close to scoring in the opening minutes. However, the Ivory Coast also reacted quickly, approaching the advantage through Nicolas Pépé, who was well served by Yan Diomandé.

When it seemed that the first half would end goalless, Antonio Nusa broke the deadlock with a spectacular finish. The Norwegian striker broke through from the left wing and with a beautiful shot beat the opposing goalkeeper, giving his team the lead.

After the break, the African team significantly increased the pressure in search of an equalizer. Goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland made several crucial saves, but could not stop Amad Diallo, who with a brilliant individual action tied the scores at 1-1.

As the match headed into extra time, Erling Haaland emerged once again. The Norwegian forward took advantage of an assist from Patrick Berg and from close range scored the winning goal, sparking Norway's celebration.

In the final minutes, Nyland maintained the advantage with another crucial save on Amad Diallo, sealing the Norwegians' historic qualification.

With this success, Norway advances to the quarterfinals, where a big duel with Brazil awaits.
