Writer Ylljet Aliçka is declared "Honorary Citizen of Cologne"

The Municipal Council of Kolonja has decided to grant the title "Honorary Citizen of Kolonja" to the renowned writer, diplomat and screenwriter Ylljet Aliçka, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Albanian literature and the promotion of national culture in the international arena.

This award is given to Aliçka for her rich literary creativity, successes achieved at the international level, and dignified representation of the values ​​of the Kolonja region.

Ylljet Aliçka graduated from the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Tirana and holds the title of professor and a doctorate. He is the author of six works in prose, which have been translated into several foreign languages, including English, French, Italian, German, Polish, Czech and Norwegian.

In addition to literature, Aliçka has also contributed to cinematography as a screenwriter. Among his most famous works is the screenplay for the film "Slogans with Stones", directed by Gjergj Xhuvani.

During his career, he has received a number of literary and cinematographic awards at home and abroad. He was a member of the Scientific Committee of the European Federation of Higher Education (FEDE) and part of the European Union project “European Literature Nights 2012–2014”, where he was selected among the ten most appreciated European writers.

Aliçka has also been a candidate for the prestigious Man Booker Prize, while one of his novels was included in the list of the ten best books of the year by The New York Times. In addition to artistic creativity, he is also engaged in the field of literary criticism.
