Following Paloka, Julia Emiri is elected head of the DP National Council

Julia Emiri has been elected as the new chairwoman of the National Council of the Democratic Party, following a vote held at the forum meeting. She secured 207 votes, leaving behind the other candidate, Silva Hasa, who received 83 votes. 23 invalid votes were also registered in the process.

During the meeting, the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, announced that he had decided that the leadership of the National Council should be entrusted to a woman, proposing Julia Emiri and Silva Hasa for this position.  

With the result of the vote, Julia Emiri received the trust of the majority and was elected head of the National Council of the Democratic Party.

Emiri is an actress by profession and has been involved in the political life of the Democratic Party for years. She also became known as one of the active voices of the movement for the protection of the National Theater, participating in protests and civic initiatives against its demolition.

Emiri succeeds Edi Paloka, who led the DP National Council for several years and had previously announced his departure from leadership positions in the party.
