US Congressman's Amendment: Report on the Albanian government's

US Congressman Joe Wilson has filed an amendment in the US Congress that requires the involvement of US intelligence structures in examining the extent of drug trafficking in Albania and the possible role of the Albanian government in facilitating or enabling it.

The proposal, submitted two weeks ago, has already passed the Rules Committee and the Laws Committee in Congress and is expected to be considered for approval in the plenary session.

The amendment provides that, no later than 180 days from the entry into force of the law, the US Secretary of State, in cooperation with the Director of National Intelligence, shall submit to the relevant Congressional committees a classified report, drafted in accordance with the protection of intelligence sources and methods.

According to the text of the amendment, the report should analyze the extent of drug trafficking in Albania and the role of the Albanian government in facilitating or enabling this criminal activity.
