Clashes at the protest in front of Parliament, 19 people arrested, 12 others

A day after the protest held in front of the Parliament, Tirana Police announced the arrest of 19 people and the criminal prosecution of 12 others.

Thursday's rally was accompanied by tensions and clashes between protesters and law enforcement, with police using tear gas, pepper spray, and water cannons to disperse the crowd.

According to the Police, the arrested persons are suspected of having resisted the officers, hit them with hard objects, damaged a Police vehicle and attacked MPs during the protest.

Among those arrested is the citizen with the initials A. Ll., 35 years old, who is accused of hitting a journalist during the rally.

Also, 12 other people have been criminally prosecuted for various illegal actions, while investigations continue to identify six other people who, according to the Police, were filmed engaging in violence.

They resisted and attacked police officers with hard objects, damaged a police vehicle and attacked members of the Albanian Parliament during the rally held yesterday, 19 citizens were arrested.

12 citizens are being prosecuted.

Work continues to identify 6 other citizens who have been documented on film for violent acts.

15 police officers and a police vehicle were damaged during the rally.

Following the procedural actions carried out by the structures of the Tirana Local Police Directorate, in relation to the rally held yesterday near the Parliament, the following citizens were arrested in flagrante delicto:

-BK, 35 years old; AE, 24 years old; GP, 36 years old; DB, 32 years old; KP, 46 years old; RD, 30 years old; AY, 40 years old; NQ, 43 years old; Y. Sh., 52 years old; E. Gj., 39 years old; FB, 56 years old; RP, 35 years old; AT, 34 years old; AN, 35 years old; EB, 45 years old; AH, 35 years old; EG, 23 years old, EB, 20 years old.

As well as citizen A. Ll., 35 years old, after hitting a journalist.

Also, the following citizens were criminally prosecuted at large: FD, 63 years old; Sh. B., 33 years old; VD, 29 years old; E. Gj., 38 years old; TT, 43 years old; EA, 31 years old; GS, 20 years old; RD, 30 years old; AM, 39 years old; MJ, 47 years old, AG, 47 years old and AK, 22 years old.

The investigative group continues to work to identify other citizens who may have committed illegal actions during the rally held yesterday.

The procedural materials have been referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for the criminal offenses of "Destruction of property", "Opposition of a police officer", "Assault due to duty", "Disturbance of public order and peace", "Organization and participation in illegal gatherings and demonstrations", "Disobedience to a lawful order of a police officer" and "Obstruction of the circulation of means of transport".
