Traffic puts us in the "elite" of Europe, Albania among the 15 most

Albania ranks 15th in Europe for traffic levels, according to the report "Traffic Index by Country - Mid-2026".

With 111.7 points, Albania is positioned among the countries with the most congested traffic on the continent, leaving behind developed countries such as Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Austria, Finland and Sweden.

According to the data, the average time spent in traffic in Albania is 36 minutes, one of the highest in Europe. Only 14 countries in Europe report heavier traffic than Albania.

In the region, Albania ranks worse than Serbia (16th place), Bulgaria (19th), Croatia (29th), Bosnia and Herzegovina (30th) and North Macedonia (32nd). Only Greece, which holds the 8th place, presents a higher level of traffic.

The report is led by Russia, followed by Ireland, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, while the countries with the lowest traffic are Estonia, Austria and Finland.

The report is based on several indicators, including traffic levels, time spent on the road, additional time lost due to congestion, traffic efficiency and CO₂ emissions.
